About The Role

Mid-Level Software Engineer / Developer

We are seeking a Software Engineer/Developer with solid commercial experience in Next.js/React, JavaScript, TypeScript, and C#. The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of MySQL, with exposure to Azure or other cloud platforms being a bonus. This role suits someone with several years of hands-on experience who can work independently, take ownership of features end-to-end, and contribute to technical decisions within a collaborative team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain web applications using Next.js/React, focusing on performance and scalability.
  • Design and build integrations between applications, APIs, and databases, particularly using MySQL.
  • Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code using JavaScript, TypeScript, and C#.
  • Take ownership of features from design through to deployment and support.
  • Participate actively in code reviews both giving and receiving constructive feedback.
  • Support and mentor more junior members of the team where appropriate.
  • Report to and work closely with the Lead Software Engineer to meet project goals and timelines.
This is a hybrid role, at our Wolverhampton NDC, with a minimum of 3 days office. Our office is also not accessible via public transport so own transportation is a must.

  • Confidence working with version control systems (e.g., Git) in a team workflow.
  • A portfolio or track record demonstrating relevant projects and skills.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid remote/office environment at our Wolverhampton NDC (3 days office, 2 home).

Nice to Have

  • Experience with RESTful API design in C#/.NET.
  • Exposure to real-time technologies (e.g., WebSockets/Socket.io).
