About The Role

About the Role 

We’re looking for a Project Manager who thrives on variety, takes real ownership of their work, and isn’t afraid to get into the detail when it matters. This isn’t a role for someone who wants to manage from a distance, we need someone who is engaged, proactive, and equally comfortable working at pace across several different projects at once. 

GSF’s Projects Team is driving meaningful change across the business, particularly in the technology that supports our nationwide branches, National teams, and operational functions. The variety of work is significant, from branch systems rollouts to cross-functional supplier integrations, and you’ll be expected to manage several projects simultaneously, keeping each one on track without losing sight of the bigger picture. 

This is a hands-on role. You’ll work day-to-day alongside IT Business Partners and the wider Project Team, and you’ll be expected to know your projects inside out. We value proactive problem-solving, if something is at risk, we want someone who identifies it early and takes action, rather than waiting for issues to escalate.

The office is not accessible via public transport. The role is based 3 days a week in the office and 2 days from home.

What You’ll Be Doing 

    • Take full ownership of projects from initiation through to closure, ensuring each one is set up correctly, delivered to plan, and properly handed over. 
      • Maintain accurate, up-to-date project documentation throughout the lifecycle, including RAID logs and PIDs. 

      • Coordinate cross-functional teams and third-party partners, keeping all parties engaged, aligned, and moving forward. 

      • Chair delivery meetings with purpose, ensuring they drive decisions and actions rather than simply reviewing status. 

      • Provide regular, honest, and well-structured updates to stakeholders at all levels, including transparent reporting on risks and issues. 

    • Ensure robust handover and post-project support arrangements are in place, with all documentation completed before closure. 

About You

About You 

Essential 

    • 3+ years’ experience in a Project Manager role, with a demonstrable track record of delivering projects end-to-end. 
      • Proven ability to manage multiple projects of varying size, type, and complexity concurrently, without losing focus or momentum on any of them. 

      • Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to engage effectively at all levels, from technical teams through to senior leadership. 

      • Proficient with project management tools and confident working across Waterfall, Agile, and Hybrid methodologies, adapting your approach to suit the project. 

      • Experience across a varied portfolio of project types, demonstrating adaptability and a practical, outcomes-focused approach. 

      • Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to earn trust quickly and work collaboratively across teams. 

      • Willing to get into the detail and take a hands-on approach when the situation calls for it, rather than relying solely on others to resolve issues. 

    • Self-motivated and continuously improvement-minded, always looking for smarter ways to work and deliver better outcomes. 

 

Preferred 

    • Project Management qualifications. 
      • Understanding of IT systems and processes. 

      • Experience in automotive, car parts distribution, or garage services. 

    • Background in logistics, supply chain, branch-based operations, or e-commerce.
