About The Role

To deliver high-quality, compliant training and assessments for Reach Truck and other Materials Handling Equipment (MHE), ensuring operators are competent, safe, and compliant with legal and company standards

About You

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver Reach Truck and MHE training in line with ACOP L117, PUWER, HSE, and company policies
  • Conduct novice, refresher, conversion, and familiarisation training
  • Carry out pre-use checks, practical and theoretical assessments
  • Ensure all training meets RTITB / ITSSAR / AITT (or equivalent) standards
  • Maintain accurate training records, certificates, and operator authorisations
  • Identify skill gaps and provide constructive feedback and coaching
  • Promote a strong safety culture and challenge unsafe behaviours
  • Liaise with Operations, HR, and Health & Safety teams to plan training needs
  • Support audits, inspections, and compliance reviews
  • Keep instructional knowledge and certifications up to date
  • Where required, train on additional MHE (e.g. Counterbalance, PPT, VNA, LLOP)

 

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure all training activities are carried out safely and risk assessed
  • Stop training immediately if unsafe conditions are identified
  • Act as a role model for safe systems of work and PPE compliance

 

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience operating Reach Trucks in a warehouse/logistics environment
  • Qualified Reach Truck Instructor (RTITB / ITSSAR / AITT or equivalent)
  • Strong knowledge of HSE legislation and MHE best practice
  • Confident communicator with the ability to engage diverse learners
  • Good organisational and record‑keeping skills
  • Ability to assess competence fairly and consistently

 

Desirable Skills & Qualifications

  • Multi‑truck instructor qualification
  • Experience training across multiple sites
  • IOSH Managing Safely or similar H&S qualification
  • Familiarity with WMS and warehouse operations
  • Assessor qualification (e.g. TAQA / A1)
