About The Role

As the Inventory Team Leader within a busy warehouse environment, you will be responsible for leading a team to ensure accurate stock control, efficient inventory processes, and smooth coordination between goods-in, storage, and dispatch. You’ll play a key role in maintaining inventory integrity, supporting operational targets, and driving continuous improvement.

About You

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of inventory operatives.
  • Allocate tasks and monitor performance to meet daily operational goals.
  • Conduct team briefings and support training initiatives.

Inventory Control

  • Oversee daily inventory activities including cycle counts, stock takes, and adjustments.
  • Investigate and resolve stock discrepancies quickly and effectively.
  • Ensure accurate data entry into warehouse management systems (WMS).

Operational Support

  • Liaise with Goods-In, Picking, and Dispatch teams to ensure stock accuracy across all areas.
  • Support inbound and outbound processes with inventory checks and validations.
  • Monitor replenishment and location accuracy to optimize space and efficiency.

Reporting & Compliance

  • Produce regular inventory reports and KPIs for management review.
  • Support internal and external audits with accurate documentation and traceability.
  • Ensure compliance with warehouse health & safety standards and company policies.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify and implement process improvements to reduce errors and improve efficiency.
  • Champion lean practices and contribute to warehouse improvement projects.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Experience in a warehouse inventory or stock control role.
  • Strong leadership and team coordination skills.
  • Working knowledge of WMS or ERP systems.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.

Desirable Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 in Warehousing or equivalent.
  • Forklift license (Counterbalance or Reach).
  • Experience with lean methodologies or continuous improvement initiatives.
