About The Role

As a Management Accountant, you will play a crucial part of the finance team, responsible for the complete and accurate recording of all capital costs, taxation accounting and intra group transactions for the Group whilst mentoring and coaching staff across the general ledger department. 

The Management Accountant will support the Group FM in the overall consolidation of the group financials at month end.

Main duties include: 
 
  • Responsible for working capital balance sheet reconciliations across accounts receivable, accounts payable and inventory including the production of monthly lead schedules. 
  • Coach and mentor the Group Assistant Management Accountant(s)
  • Responsible for the complete and accurate recording of the monthly capital expenditure both tangible and intangible.
  • To ensure the associated asset registers are correctly stated at month end.
  • Ensuring the group is up to date with its IFRS16 lease accounting as part of the groups UK GAAP to IFRS conversion. 
  • Plan and implement mid-month reviews of capital cost accounting to ensure resource is optimised to deliver on monthly close timetable.
  • Responsible for maintaining and completing groups VAT records including quarterly and bi-monthly submission to HMRC. 
  • Responsible for maintaining and completing groups Intrastat records including monthly submission to HMRC. 
  • Responsible for maintaining and reconciling the groups Corporation Tax position on a quarterly basis. 
  • Responsibly for the groups inter-company reconciliation process on a monthly basis. Including but not limited to:
    ­ Monthly reconciliation of GL position to ensure fully reconciled.
    ­ Monthly P&L elimination journals on consolidation
    ­ Monthly Balance Sheet elimination journals on consolidation (trading Sales and purchase ledgers)
  • Compliance with internal control requirements as governed by Canadian SOX (52-109).
  • Develop effective working relationships with other teams, including but not limited to:
    ­ Accounts Payable
    ­ Budget holders where capital expenditure is relevant to budget (eg fleet, IT and property)
  • Proactively support the Group FM in the review of current processes as part of the Groups continuous improvement journey. A key focus
  • to include process location and activity timing with a view to maximise efficiency and manage resource constraints at month end.
Working Hours:

40 hours per week Monday to Friday between the hours of 8am and 5:30pm

About You

The ideal candidate will be ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified with previous working experience, ideally within a large multi-site FMCG organisation. 

What you’ll need to succeed: 
  • Professional curiosity to challenge outputs with ability to efficiently investigate and identify any issue(s) together with proposing required solutions.
  • A high degree of personal and professional resilience coupled with a “can do” attitude and a pro-active solution driven approach. 
  • At home in changeable environments with an ability to manage upwards and drive through continuous improvements.
  • Knowledge of FRS 102.
  • Knowledge of IFRS and Tax accounting experience would be advantageous.
  • Full understanding of & articulate with double entry to explain accounting concepts.
  • Experience of managing time and tasks of another member of staff through the month-end close to tight deadlines
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel to manage, manipulate and analyse large volumes of data.
  • Able to review and understand complex spreadsheets to ensure completeness and accuracy of the result and data set.
  • Experience of cost centre accounting in a multi-location business
  • Knowledge of MAM, Xero and SAP would be desirable.
  • Able to operate effectively under pressure with an organised approach to meet multiple competing deadlines.
